The teaching staff of the department consists of doctors and candidates of sciences - highly qualified specialists who provide teaching of a wide range of disciplines for students studying in two dozen specialties. For many future specialists, the disciplines of the strength cycle are among the main ones that contribute to the formation of engineering thinking.
PhD students are taught some special disciplines.
Laboratory work is carried out in one of the oldest mechanical laboratories in St Petersburg - the laboratory named after Professor N. N. Aistov, founded by Professor V. V. Ewald in 1900.
The teachers of the department cooperate with leading construction and design organizations, participate in solving problems related to the calculations of building structures, design and reconstruction of buildings and structures, including unique, especially critical engineering facilities. This cooperation makes it possible to put their knowledge into practice when solving complex engineering problems, and on the other hand, to use the experience gained in teaching.

Dear colleagues, friends!
Welcome to the webpage of the Department of Construction Mechanics, formed in 2013 by merging the two oldest departments of the university - Theoretical Mechanics and Strength of Materials
Most of the students are or will be studying at this department, new in form, studying such difficult disciplines as theoretical mechanics, strength of materials, theory of elasticity, theory of calculation of thin-walled rods, technical mechanics, without knowledge of which it is difficult to imagine a well-trained graduate of our university.

I wish our students effective studying and quality education that would open broad prospects in their future professional careers.
