Goals and objectives of the Department of Restoration and Reconstruction of Architectural Heritage comprise training of, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate and postdoctoral students, including in three inter-complementary areas of knowledge and professional skills:
- Protection of historical and cultural heritage
- Restoration of cultural heritage objects (monuments)
- Reconstruction of the historical environment.
The goals and objectives of the department are related to the training of specialists for professional activities in the field of preservation of historical heritage at all stages: during the conservation, restoration, major repairs, development of the most lenient options for adapting historical objects, including cultural heritage objects (monuments). This activity includes:
- Research and design of a harmonious living environment comprising various historical objects
- Performance of communicative, intermediary functions in the relations between the customer, contractor, local community and other interested parties in the process of formulating, explaining, promoting and implementing design concepts
- Participation in the management of the design process, the organization of the design department, the administration of the architectural and restoration industry and the preservation of historical objects and fragments of the historical environment
- Examination of design decisions, theoretical understanding, critical analysis and assessment of the premises, methods and results of the entire cycle of work on cultural heritage sites and elements of the historical environment: research, design studies and project development (at all stages) in the course of restoration and adaptation of historical objects
- Architectural pedagogy, the implementation of the goals of architectural education.
