Состав кафедры прикладной математики и информатики в 2005 годуThe Department of Informatics, being formed by separation from the Department of Computer Science, shares its rich history, which began with the creation in 1983 of the Department of Applied Mathematics, which then taught all disciplines related to information processing on a computer. In 1999, it received the name of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics and was a general education department. The head of the department of AMI was a great scientist and a wonderful person, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor Boris Georgievich Vager. Many current employees of the Department of Informatics and the Department of Information Systems and Technologies studied with him.
The Department of AMI taught disciplines related to numerical methods and mathematical modeling for the tasks of ecology and construction (B. G. Vager, V.V. Karpov), computer graphics (T. G. Kapitonova, M. A. Milyutina, L. D. Pekarev, M. F. Yakovleva), informatics (O. V. Bukunova, L. F. Vasenina, E. B. Lyubimov, L. K. Narbut, S. N. Nikiforov, V. V. Shatskov , M.V. Shatskova), optimization methods (A.Yu. Garnaev, V.A. Frolkis).
Since 2000, through the efforts of Boris Georgievich, the department became a graduating department, and for the first time enrolled students in the specialty “Applied Mathematics”. The specialty “Applied Mathematics” existed for many years, and since 2011 the department began to enroll students in the bachelor’s and master’s degrees “Applied Mathematics” and “Applied Mathematics and Informatics.” In 2020, the department introduced the field of study “Information systems and technologies”.
During the period of rapid development of information technologies and especially the expansion of the scope of their application, teaching students the skills to effectively use digital technologies has become one of the priority tasks of the department. Since mastery of methods and means of mathematical (computer) modeling, including the use of universal and specialized software and computer systems and computer-aided design systems, is a necessary part of modern professional training of future specialists in the construction industry.
Training of specialists in the field of information modeling in construction, in pursuance of the Order of the President of the Russian Federation of 19 July, 2018 Pr-1235, brings to the fore disciplines related to the use of information modeling technologies.
All this subsequently led to the decision to allocate a general education department - the Department of Informatics.
