The Department of Landscape Architecture was formed in 2024.
In the context of increased demand for the profession of landscape architect and designer, it has become relevant to open new educational areas and programs aimed at developing both skills in solving urban planning and environmental problems, and the ability to work with landscape facilities and gardening - a comprehensive approach to the improvement of territories. At the department, students gain knowledge and acquire skills in the field of landscape architecture at a high professional level. Systematic training of future specialists allows working both in the field of design and in the field of urban management and landscaping.
The main focuses of the department are:
- inclusion of acutetopics in the field of landscape design in diploma and course projects (design of modern public spaces, design of strategies for the development of the water-green framework of cities, formation of new green spaces in the context of the existing urban environment, landscaping of urban and park areas);
- participation in regional, federal and international competitions and programs;
- cooperation with specialized organizations (Centers of Competence for the Development of the Urban Environment, government committees, design organizations and studios, plant nurseries);
- conducting student internships at improvement sites;
- conducting scientific activities.
At the university, the topic of training specialists in the field of landscape architecture was first raised by Professor Valery Anatolyevich Nefedov, who is the author of books on the topic of developing modern landscape design of the urban environment - "Landscape Design and Environmental Sustainability", "Urban Landscape Design", "How to Return the City to People", etc. It is the students of Valery Anatolyevich Nefedov who form the backbone of the faculty of the Department.
Currently, the Department of Landscape Architecture employs practicing landscape architects, urban environment designers, biologists, landscape construction specialists and park restoration specialists.
Upon completion of the course in Landscape Architecture, students will have the following competencies:
- design of landscape facilities: parks, squares, embankments, pedestrian zones, recreational facilities;
- work with private landscape projects;
- implementation of competent selection of planting material;
- ability to professionally present design solutions;
- development of small architectural forms.
