About the department

The Department of Transport Systems and Road & Bridge Construction provides multidisciplinary training for professionals in the transport and construction sectors. In the field of transport technologies, the department offers a Bachelor’s degree program (23.03.01: Transport Processes Technology; specialization: "Organization of Transportation and Management in Road Transport"), available in both full-time and part-time formats, allowing students to combine their studies with employment. For advanced study in the field, a Master’s program (23.04.01: Transport Processes Technology; full-time) is available, featuring the professional educational track "Transport Logistics and Intelligent Transport Systems."

At the same time, the department trains specialists in the field of construction. It enrolls students in the Bachelor’s program (field of study 08.03.01 "Civil engineering") on both full-time and part-time bases, as well as in the Master’s program (field of study 08.04.01 "Civil engineering," full-time). Furthermore, to address particularly complex engineering challenges, the department trains specialists under the program 08.05.01 "Construction of Unique Buildings and Structures" (full-time). Thus, the department covers the entire educational spectrum—ranging from the applied organization of transport operations to the design and construction of complex infrastructure—offering flexible study formats tailored to students' diverse life and career paths.

Transport is one of the country’s major system-forming sectors, with close ties to all elements of the economy and the social sphere. As Russia continues to develop, expanding its domestic and international transport and economic links, increasing production volumes, and raising the population's standard of living, the importance of transport and its role as a system-forming factor will only grow.

The partner departments are based at JSC Petersburg-Dorservice and St Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise Passazhiravtotrans.

Profile

Dear collegues, friends! Welcome to the webpage of the Department of Transport Systems.

The transport system provides conditions for economic growth, increasing the competitiveness of the national economy and the quality of life. Access to safe and high-quality transport services determines the efficiency of work and development of production, business and the social sphere. Geographical and technological accessibility of transport services determines the possibilities of territorial development of the economy and social sphere.

Automobile transport plays a special role in the functioning of the transport complex of the country. More than 80% of cargo and more than 90% of passengers in our country are transported by road.

The quality of transport service, the speed of transport communication, the comfort and safety of transportation are largely determined by the efficiency of the organization of freight and passenger traffic, the organization of traffic and its management.

Transport issues come up to the forefront in most major cities and regions of Russia; they are among the most acute matters for urban residents, and the development of the economy. With the growth of automobilization, these problems will only aggravate.

Under these conditions, the role of specialists capable of solving the tasks of road transport and traffic organization will increase. Our graduates who work on ensuring the effective functioning of the transport complex, improving road safety, creating comfortable traffic conditions are on high demand on the job market.

The training of specialists at the Department is carried out by highly qualified teachers, including three doctors and five candidates of sciences, as well as specialists from leading industry enterprises. In order to provide practice-oriented training for students, two basic departments have been created: together with the St Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise Passazhiravtotrans and with the St Petersburg State Institution "Directorate for the organization of traffic in St Petersburg". In the learning process, modern applied software products and educational technologies are used.
